Speak about the big things in Irish
You're past the basics and ready for a challenge. Each week you read a short piece of literature, then discuss it in Irish with Jane and a small group: poems, stories, current affairs and big questions. Six weeks, live, to stretch your Irish.
Read, reflect, discuss
Each week Jane sends a short text in advance: a poem, a story, an extract or a news item. You arrive having read it, and the group talks it through in Irish. Jane facilitates, and you bring your own ideas.
Read the text
20-30 minutes, sent to you before each class. Poems like Faoiseamh a Gheobhadsa or stories like Labhraí Loingseach.
Reflect on the questions
Guided questions help you think through your answers before class, at your own pace. They're used in the live discussion.
Discuss it live
Every Wednesday 5-6:15pm Irish time on Zoom. A small group of no more than 8, talking in Irish.
What you'll explore
Poetry
Read and talk about poems, and what they mean to you.
Stories and mythology
Tales from the Irish tradition, told and discussed.
Current affairs
News and ideas, so you can share an opinion in Irish.
Literature

Frequently Asked Questions
People who have finished Level 3, or confident intermediate speakers who can follow an everyday conversation and want a challenge.
Yes, that's what makes the discussion work. It takes 20-30 minutes, and the guided questions help you prepare your answers before the live class.
Yes. You'll have thought through the questions beforehand, the group is no more than 8, and Jane facilitates so nobody is put on the spot.
You'll still get the weekly text and guided questions, but the discussion is the heart of the course, so try to make as many sessions as you can.
No. Level 4 is live only, because the discussion needs other people.
The texts change each round so you could join the next cohort. Or keep going with an immersion course in Gougane Barra, and join our monthly Ciorcal Comhrá (coming February 2027).
